I gave a sneak peek of my rainbow baby blanket in a previous post, and I’m happy to say it’s finally done!
The idea for this blanket came from Alena Rudneva. She has a picture tutorial on her site but no written pattern that I could tell. (It’s in Russian, I think, so I may have missed it.) The pattern is quite simple but takes a lot of changing yarn! Here is what I did:
Rainbow Baby Blanket with Tassles
Yarn: Bernat Baby Sport in Baby Pink, Popsicle Blue, Baby Ecru (white); Bernat Softee baby in Soft Lilac, Mint; no idea what the yellow is!
Hook: H, 4.5mm
Size: 30” x 38” (including tassles)
Notes: You will want to leave a long-ish tail when you change colors for each row, since you will be making tassles.
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
Row 1: With white, ch 156
Row 2: dc in 4th ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next st*, repeat from * to end of row, switch to new color, ch 1
Row 3: sc in first st, *sc in ch 1 space of previous row, sc in top of dc of previous row*, repeat from * to end of row, switch to white, ch 3
Row 4: *dc in top of dc from the previous row (where you made your single stitch), ch 1*, repeat from * to end of row, switch colors, ch 1
Row 5-?: Repeat alternating white and colored rows until you’ve reached your desired length
Fasten off, attach tassles to ends of each colored row
This blanket works up pretty quickly and it’s simple enough that you can do other things while you’re working. Hope you enjoy it!
This blanket is now available for sale at my shop.
