I’ve been spending all my free time crocheting, trying to get a head start on some Christmas gifts. I’ve been put under strict orders not to share full pictures, so I’m giving you this sneak peek:
I’ve been able to learn a few new stitches and techniques with these four projects, which is my favorite part! I’ve also learned that I am not capable of doing every pattern yet. I tried working on this hat for hours and hours and just could not get it. That’s always humbling. Some day I’ll learn!
I’m taking a break from crocheting (mostly just from attempting to make a rose, aggravating!) to share this wine bottle vase project that Michael and I did awhile ago. We got the idea from Shanty 2 Chic which has great how-to instructions, which we followed exactly and everything went as planned.
The basic gist is to take a board, cut it to size, stain it, add some plumbing accessories, a wine bottle, a nice flower, and voila!, a simple and cheap home decor piece.
We found all the materials at Lowe’s with the exception of the wine bottle which I found at the grocery store and promptly emptied and the fake flowers which were bought at Michael’s with a 50% coupon. The total cost was around $10/bottle. We made two so we could hang them above the couch:
We only had one empty, clear wine bottle on hand which is why the one on the left is white. (Grocery store run!) I think they look great framing the window/mantle, and they add a way to easily accessorize for holidays/seasons by changing the flowers.
This post has really made me want to paint. These off-white walls are making me CRAZY!
